Charlie Brown

One of Australia's leading fashion designers, Charlie Brown began her career in 1982 in San Francisco. Working in retail sales for Esprit, Charlie Brown developed a love for fashion and design. After gaining valuable experience in the fashion industry, in 1985 Charlie Brown realised it was time for a change all the way to Australia, where she spent seven years at the design helm of Howard Showers.

Following her dreams and passion, in 1995 Charlie Brown launched her self-titled label, Charlie Brown. The designs are sexy, playful, beautifully constructed and tailored. The Charlie Brown label moved from strength to strength launching the eclectic and glamorous Princess Charlotte red carpet collection in 2000.

Charlie Brown has a reputation for being clever, creative, bold and brave and is well known for selecting stylists, sales people and creative teams to collaborate with which, push the label to the edge - where she thrives!

The label has become synonymous with featuring high profile supermodels and international talent at fashion shows including; Linda Evangelista, Helena Christiansen, Sophie Dahl, Jerry Hall, Jodie Kidd, Jade Jagger and Lily Cole.

Dramatically designed shows received global press – from Linda Evangelista stepping out of the bed on the runway, when Helena Christiansen walked in a white bridal bikini, Sophie Dahl dressed in hippie chic to the virtuous lady like show starring Nicky Hilton at the Sydney Fashion Festival are all remembered as iconic Australian fashion moments and continue to be a source of inspiration. Always interested in personalities from all walks of life, Charlie Brown's seasonal campaigns have also showcased the famous faces of Lara Feltham, Cathy Freeman, Lady Sonia McMahon and more recently former Miss Universe Australia, Laura Dundovic.

Now, celebrating over fifteen years, the enduring legacy of the Charlie Brown label continues, "I enjoy watching people grow within the business and learning how to run a company, it helps you grow as a person" Charlie says. A major force in the Australian fashion marketplace, opening the first flagship store on Oxford Street, Paddington in 2000, Charlie Brown now has six self-titled stores in Australia, and sells strongly in Myer department stores nationally, luxury boutiques nationwide and internationally with two self titled stores recently opened in New Zealand.
