Brigid McLaughlin

Brigid McLaughlin was raised on a merino stud, 'Merryanbone North', located between Nyngan and Warren in Central New South Wales, Australia.

A graduate of the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in fine arts, Brigid went on to gain her Fashion Design Diploma from the National Art School, East Sydney graduating with distinction.

Success in the international Smirnoff Design Competition led to Brigid taking on the role of designer for the newly launched Charlie Brown brand. After six months Brigid responsibilities were extended to design the Lili label for the Discovery Group.

After five years with the Discovery Group, Brigid travelled extensively in Europe. She spent a year in London working with Issey Miyake, learning the other side of the business - retail sales, wholesale sales and merchandising - with one of the world's most innovative design companies.

Upon returning to Australia in 2001, Brigid was offered the role of Head of Design, David Lawrence and enjoyed working closely with Malcolm Webster in turning around the newly purchased business. Brigid played a key role in determining David Lawrence's positioning in today's marketplace in relation to the brand image and the product plan. Brigid gave the middle market label a design edge.

From 2004 to 2005, Brigid was Head of Design, Lisa Ho. At Lisa Ho Brigid shared Lisa's passion for vintage inspired detail and enjoyed working on a luxurious product.

Brigid launched her independent collection in 2006 writing orders with many of Australia's key retailers. After a very strong response at retail and the exposure of participating in Rosemount Fashion Week Sydney and Air New Zealand Fashion Week Auckland the brand rapidly expanded in 2007 with premier stockists in Australia, New Zealand Indonesia and the USA.
